Floppy Hack: The Quest for the Sacred Disks

Recover 30 sacred disks from 30 caves and take them to the ST, a hallowed computing device. Face douchebags, neckbeards, livestreamers, toilet paper hoarders, and many other fiendish foes. 

• Use WASD to move and press F to fire projectiles.
• You and your foes can only attack non-diagonally.
• Press P to unleash a super melee attack; this uses 20 energy but offers twice the damage.
• Press M to drop a timed bomb for 3 ammo. It will damage everything within a small radius.
• Press 'i' to display skills.

Gameplay

• Locate the floppy disk in each cave and bring it to the ST. Collecting it may summon additional enemy troops.
• Apples replenish energy which is depleted by walking and executing super melee attacks.
• Energy is restored after a cave is completed.
• Armor upgrades and temporary shields reinforce your defenses.
• Gaining skills in brawling and marksmanship will make you a more deadly combatant.
• Use projectiles to scout ahead.
• Some foes will poison you. Also watch out for traps!

The Happiness Game Mechanic (as implemented in version 0.2)

• Collecting floppies contributes to a new variable: happiness.
• Floppies representing different games have a positive, neutral, or negative value.
• The happiness variable is added to the player's base energy-level at the start of each new cave.
• For example, if you have collected games with a negative value (e.g. Hard Drivin' and Crazy Cars) you will get a reduced energy-level at the beginning of each new cave. All floppies are drawn from a pool of games at random.
• Floppies cannot be ejected and persist throughout the game.

Damage Calculation

• Super melee attack: DMG x 2
• Bombs: 10 base DMG + between 0 and current player experience level

  • The base-hit % is now displayed. It is calculated using the following formula: character base hit chance + experience level (the total getting capped at 95). Player exp bonus comes into effect only after they reach exp level 2.
